  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) Almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk are great alternatives.
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder Add more for a stronger chocolate flavor.
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener (like honey, maple syrup, or agave) Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
  • A pinch salt Enhances overall flavor.

Optional Toppings

  • As needed sliced bananas For sweetness and texture.
  • As needed berries Adds nutrients and flavor.
  • As needed nuts For crunch.
  • As needed nut butter For creaminess and richness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl or jar, combine the rolled oats, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to ensure the cocoa is evenly distributed.
  • Add the milk, sweetener, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed and oats are submerged.
  • Seal the container with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Let it sit overnight (or for at least 4-6 hours) to absorb the liquid.
  • In the morning, give your oats a good stir. If consistency is too thick, add a splash more milk.
  • Top with your favorite fruits, nuts, or nut butter before serving.

Notes

Overnight oats can keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If the oats seem dry on the second day, add a splash of milk. Experiment with different chocolate types and toppings for variation.
