Ingredients

For the Mojito

  • 1 cup Blackberries Fresh is best, but frozen works too.
  • 10 leaves Mint leaves For that refreshing aroma.
  • 2 oz White rum The base spirit for your cocktail.
  • 2 oz Lime juice Freshly squeezed for the brightest flavor.
  • 2 oz Cream of coconut Adds a luscious, tropical richness.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar To balance the tartness of the blackberries and lime.
  • ice Ice To keep your drink chilled and refreshing.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by washing your blackberries and mint leaves. If using fresh mint, gently slap the leaves to release their oils.
  • In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, combine a handful of blackberries and a few mint leaves. Add a teaspoon of sugar and the lime juice.
  • Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the ingredients together.
  • Pour in the cream of coconut and white rum, mixing thoroughly.
  • Add ice to your mixture, filling the glass to the brim.
  • If using a shaker, secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. If using a glass, use a spoon to mix well without shaking.
  • Strain the mixture into a fresh glass filled with ice.
  • Finish your cocktail with a few whole blackberries and a sprig of mint.

Notes

Tips for the best mojito include using fresh ingredients and adjusting the sweetness to taste. Experiment with different rums and consider variations like berry blends or a non-alcoholic version.
