Ingredients
  

  • * 1 lb Korean rice cakes tteok
  • * 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • * 2 cups water or anchovy broth
  • * 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • * 1 tablespoon gochugaru optional
  • * 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • * 1 tablespoon sugar
  • * 2 cloves garlic minced
  • * 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • * Optional: green onions boiled eggs, fish cakes

Instructions
 

  • Soak rice cakes in warm water if using frozen.
  • In a pan, bring water or broth to a gentle boil.
  • Add gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and gochugaru.
  • Stir until the sauce is smooth.
  • Add rice cakes and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Cook until sauce thickens and coats the rice cakes.
  • Reduce heat to low and add mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Cover and let cheese melt for 1–2 minutes.
  • Drizzle sesame oil and top with green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Soak frozen rice cakes for better texture.
  • Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Adjust spice level with gochugaru or sugar.
  • Add water if sauce becomes too thick.
