Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh orange juice about 4–5 oranges
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Wash and zest the oranges, then juice them and strain if desired.
  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat.
  • Stir until the sugar fully dissolves, then remove from heat and cool.
  • In a bowl, mix cooled syrup with orange juice, zest, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Stir until well combined.
  • Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and churn for 20–25 minutes.
  • Alternatively, pour into a shallow container and freeze, stirring every 30–45 minutes.
  • Once smooth and frozen, transfer to an airtight container.
  • Freeze for 1–2 hours to firm up.
  • Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving.
