Ingredients

For the Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based alternatives.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper Season to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup onion (diced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 1/3 cups chicken broth (or beef broth)
  • 8 oz spaghetti Can break in half for easier cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped) For garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and minced garlic, sautéing until the onions become translucent and fragrant.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Season it with salt and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  • Once the beef is cooked, add the crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Break the spaghetti in half and stir it into the pot, ensuring that the pasta is submerged in the sauce.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the pasta is al dente and the sauce has thickened.
  • Once cooked, stir in chopped parsley for a fresh touch. Taste and add more salt if needed.
  • Ladle the comforting spaghetti and meat sauce into bowls, sprinkle with additional parsley or grated cheese if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

Don’t overcook the pasta and consider mixing in Italian herbs or adding vegetables for a unique twist.
