Total Time 3 hours hrs 15 minutes mins
- 3 ripe pears peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- Pinch of salt
- Optional Garnish
- Fresh mint leaves
- Thin pear slices
- Extra lemon zest
In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat.
Stir until the sugar completely dissolves to form a simple syrup, then remove from heat and allow it to cool.
In a blender, add chopped pears, lemon juice, mint leaves, lemon zest, and the cooled simple syrup.
Blend until the mixture becomes completely smooth.
If desired, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (about 20–25 minutes) until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Transfer the sorbet to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2–3 hours until firm.
Scoop into bowls and garnish with fresh mint leaves or pear slices before serving.
-
Use ripe pears for the sweetest and most flavorful sorbet.
-
Chilling the mixture before churning can help create a smoother texture.
-
If the sorbet becomes too firm, allow it to sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping.
-
Straining the mixture removes pulp and creates an extra-smooth sorbet.
