Ingredients

  • 3 ripe pears peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Thin pear slices
  • Extra lemon zest

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat.
  • Stir until the sugar completely dissolves to form a simple syrup, then remove from heat and allow it to cool.
  • In a blender, add chopped pears, lemon juice, mint leaves, lemon zest, and the cooled simple syrup.
  • Blend until the mixture becomes completely smooth.
  • If desired, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (about 20–25 minutes) until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  • Transfer the sorbet to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2–3 hours until firm.
  • Scoop into bowls and garnish with fresh mint leaves or pear slices before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe pears for the sweetest and most flavorful sorbet.
  • Chilling the mixture before churning can help create a smoother texture.
  • If the sorbet becomes too firm, allow it to sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before scooping.
  • Straining the mixture removes pulp and creates an extra-smooth sorbet.
