Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 8 oz 225g cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, vanilla, food coloring, and vinegar, mixing well.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to form a dough.
  • Scoop dough onto baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until set but soft.
  • Let cookies cool completely.
  • Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Frost cooled cookies and serve.

Notes

  • Do not overbake to keep cookies soft.
  • Use gel food coloring for a deeper red color.
  • Always frost after cookies are fully cooled.
  • Chill frosting slightly for easier spreading.
  • Store in fridge up to 5 days or freeze unfrosted cookies up to 2 months.
