Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 5-6 cups Fresh peaches, peeled and chopped Choose perfectly ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1-2 tablespoons Lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best results.
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Optional, for added warmth and flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash, peel, and chop your peaches, removing any pits. Larger pieces will cook down faster.
  • In a large saucepan, combine the chopped peaches, sugar, and lemon juice. Sprinkle in cinnamon if desired.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan on low heat, stirring occasionally. As the peaches cook down, they will release their juices.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  • Once thick and spreadable, use an immersion blender or transfer to a regular blender to achieve desired consistency if you prefer a smoother texture.

Storage

  • Remove from heat and let cool completely. Transfer peach butter into sterilized jars for storage.

Notes

Store properly canned peach butter in a cool, dark place for up to one year. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within two weeks. Consider freezing in individual portions if you have excess.
