Ingredients

Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk Warm but not hot
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add in the melted butter, granulated sugar, salt, and eggs. Mix well. Gradually add the flour, stirring until a dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • While the dough is rising, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.

Shaping and Baking

  • Punch down the risen dough, then roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
  • Starting from one end, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal it well.
  • Place the rolled dough seam-side down in a greased loaf pan. Cover with a cloth and let rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
  • While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Once the bread has risen, bake it for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and savor!

Notes

Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast. Kneading is vital for the texture. Consider adding vanilla for more flavor.
